I am Katie Kennedy, senior public relations major at Kent State University. When I chose to come back to school after taking a couple years off, I knew public relations was what I wanted to pursue. While working in sales during those two years, I developed a passion for communicating with customers and fellow employees, representing my company and actively pursuing goals.
These passions combined with writing skills and motivation led me to PR. I want to be in public relations instead of marketing, which is more closely related to sales, because I want to be out on the front lines, not always behind the scenes.
Celebrities fascinate me. I love the fashion, the gossip and the glamour. Although I probably won’t be moving to Hollywood or even New York City anytime soon, I still have a great interest in entertainment PR and publicity. The entertainment industry is a public relations goldmine, but often turns into a PR nightmare.
